Ethernet

Ethernet can easily be described as the traffic management in a local network. Its task is to find a path for each message from sender to recipient without two or more messages simultaneously trying to take the same path (collision). Ether refers to the air, ie on radio waves . The technology is inspired by the radio communication’s way of preventing two signals being transmitted simultaneously on the same radio frequency. A computer that wants to send checks first if the network is available. If not, it will wait a randomly selected long time (counted in milliseconds) and then try again.
